After going on our trek through Chola Pass to Everest Base Camp with Acclimatize Nepal, we will be recommending Mingma and his company to anyone visiting Nepal. Our trip was one of the most memorable experiences of our lives and most of it was thanks to Mingma. At each minor obstacle we faced, he always had a solution and was often one step ahead in planning and decision-making. His flexibility and quick thinking really made our trip so much easier and in our experiences traveling around the world, there are few guides who have this level of knowledge, thoughtfulness, and local experience.

We chose the Chola Pass trek knowing it would be more challenging than the classic Everest Base Camp Trek and it did not disappoint. Despite some rough weather, we managed to experience amazing views of the magnificent peaks, some of which we would not have seen had we done the classic trek. The teahouse at the end of each day provided some welcome warmth and food and our bags always arrived at our teahouse before we did. Most of the food was magnificent given the remoteness of each of the teahouses, and little luxuries like an extra blanket or hot water bottle went a long way during our trek.

Along with being an excellent outdoor leader, Mingma was very knowledgeable in explaining to us the cultural and historical aspects of the Khumbu region, and this made our trip all the more enjoyable. His easy going and jovial nature really endured him to everyone in our group and he seemed to know everyone on the mountain, obviously commanding a high level of respect among his peers. When our flights were canceled from Lukla, other trekkers looked on with jealousy as he secured us seats on the first flight back to Kathmandu and they were on later flights. As one of these other trekkers said to us “your guide is great on the mountain and off!”

We are already spreading the word and look forward to returning to complete another trek with Acclimatize Nepal.
